Turkey Red
A complicated and time-consuming process by which dye was derived from madder in the Levant (Turkey and the Middle East) and later commercially perfected in Scotland. The Turkey red process produces the brightest and most lasting red to come from madder especially for cotton dyeing. Still in production in a limited fashion in India for use by producers of natural dyes. See Alizarin, Majith.
