An allover brocade. Banaras weavers use extra weft silk yarn for patterning, creating the tanchoi saree. Sometimes zari is also added to the weft to create more glorious designs. These are amru brocades (silk thread brocades) with more coloured weft yarns being added to create stunning effects. Inspired by Chinese brocade, these satin finishes were learnt by three Parsi brothers who then imitated them in sarees.
