An orifice just below the silkworm’s mouth through which it spits the silk filament to spin its cocoon. The silk is produced in the two silk glands in the silkworm and this liquid substance of fibroin and sericin is spitted from the spinneret and hardens on contact with air, forming a filament of silk. It is also called a Seripositer. See Brin, Bave, Sericin, Filament.
