Initiated by the Indian Ministry of Textiles, the Handloom Mark was designed by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
It gurantees the buyer of the originality and authenticity of the handloom product. The design itself is a stylised interpretation of the warp and weft of fabric, implying the several factors and persons who work together to produce handloom fabrics. The logo and label come in two versions: one, for the Domestic Market, the word “Handloom” below the design; and two, for the Export Market, with the words “Handmade in India” included. It creates confidence in the buyer and uplifts the respectability of the handloom weaver’s work.
