A fabric woven from waste silk yarn drawn by hand from Tussar cocoons. Becoming popular in creating designs in brocade-type weaves, giving them a grainy texture. Sometimes loosely referred to as Joot when used as applique on sarees. Gicha yarn has an earthy, rough quality that gives a fashionable ‘ethnic’ look when used to create designs in a saree. See Jatan, jutesilk.
