Textile raw material generally, for example, yarn, be it cotton, linen, silk, jute, hemp, wool or man-made. In silk it can be divided into:

• Filament (continuous). In natural silk it can be anything up to two miles long and in man-made yarn, several miles long.
• Staple fibres: limited, shorter lengths.
