A system of reeling silk from the cocoon. After being cooked (boiled) the cocoons are placed in basins of hot water to soften them, ready to be reeled. Then they are brushed (the floss is removed) to find the start of the filament of each cocoon. Five to eight filaments of the said number of cocoons are pulled gently together and fed through the croisure through the pulleys to the yarn winder. See Croisure.
