A large rod on the loom on which the warp threads are anchored in readiness for weaving, and then laid in parallel lines to be tied to another warp beam at the other end (where the weaver sits) of the loom. The warp can thus be removed as a sheet on the beam. The same beam (on the weaver’s side) is used to wind the fabric as it is woven.
